Why Visiting the Zoo on a Rainy Day is Great

Visiting the San Diego Zoo on a day where it rains is secretly actually one of the most fun times to go.

When it rains, the crowds clear up which allows you to easily walk through the park, and get a front-row view while visiting all of the different types of animals.

Contrary to popular belief, the animals are also much more active when it rains, as the weather is a lot cooler for them as well.

This brings the best of both worlds during your visit.

However, if your clothes and items are completely soaked, chances are that you won't have the best time.

Which is why, you'll want to make sure that you're prepared for the rain which we cover in the next section.

Preparing For the Rain

Our Poncho Choice

Poncho's in particular are very cheap, and very worth it.

This unisex, lightweight reusable poncho has worked wonders over the years at dozens of theme parks.

Our Umbrella Choice

The most reliable umbrella that we've used over the years has been the Repel Umbrella.

The main reasons are that it's:

  • Wind Resistant - Won't Bend or Fold During High Winds
  • Portable - Easy to Put Away After Use
  • Only Takes 1 Button to Open and Close
  • Non Slip Grip Allows For an Easy Hold Even During Severe Storms
  • Can Be Used For Both Men and Women

Many visitors are prepared for the rain when they come to the zoo, but they forget about the wind!

Don't overlook the fact that there will be plenty of wind if there's rain.
