Where Is The Monorail At The Contemporary Resort?
The monorail actually goes through the main building of the Contemporary Resort and stops on the 5th floor.
It’s important to note that while the monorail stops on the 5th floor, it is only accessible via the 4th floor, so you’ll need to stop on the 4th first and follow the signs to the monorail entrance.
The monorail station is only accessible from inside the hotel so you’ll need to go inside the hotel and ride the elevator or escalators in order to board the monorail.
Before boarding however you will need to go through a security checkpoint just as you would when entering any Walt Disney World theme park.
From this monorail station you will be able to access Magic Kingdom, the Ticket and Transportation Center as well as other Magic Kingdom Resort area hotels.
If you have any trouble getting to the monorail station you can ask any cast member for additional guidance - they get this question all of the time and are happy to assist.
The entrance to the monorail station is near the Fantasia Market shop, so if you're struggling to find the monorail station follow the signs to Fantasia Market instead!
Which Rooms Are Closest To The Monorail?
The closest rooms to the monorail are going to be on floors 5 through 8 in the main tower.
The Garden Wing rooms and Bay Lake Tower rooms are going to be significantly further from the monorail with Bay Lake Tower being the furthest.
When looking at rooms available at the Contemporary Resort you will see two different kinds of rooms available in the main tower: Lake View and Theme Park View.
These rooms are equal distance from the monorail as the you'll still need to take the elevator down to the fourth floor and go through the security checkpoint in order to board the monorail.
While the monorail is directly below the Theme Park View rooms, you won't save on walking time or distance being on this side.
Your best bet is to request a room close to the elevators on the 5th, 6th, 7th or 8th floors if you want a minimal walk to the monorail.
Where Does The Monorail Go To From The Contemporary Resort?
The monorail goes to four different stops after leaving the Contemporary before returning to the resort for a total of five stops.
The five stops on the "Resort Monorail Line" which the Contemporary is part of are listed below:
- Ticket & Transportation Center
- Disney's Polynesian Village Resort
- Disney's Grand Floridian Hotel & Spa
- Magic Kingdom Park
- Disney's Contemporary Resort
How Long Is The Monorail Ride From The Contemporary To Magic Kingdom?
The Magic Kingdom is actually the furthest stop away from the Contemporary Resort via monorail.
The entire ride will take about 10 minutes when you account for travel time and the time spent at the other monorail stops allowing other guests to get on and off the monorail.
The walking path from the Contemporary is roughly a 10 minute walk as well, but the benefit of monorail is you will have an air conditioned ride!
If you the monorail is just pulling away as you arrive at the station then it will take about 15-20 minutes to get to Magic Kingdom.
A new monorail arrives at the Contemporary every 5-10 minutes.
How Long Is The Monorail Ride From The Contemporary To EPCOT?
The monorail ride from the Contemporary Resort to EPCOT is significantly longer than to the Magic Kingdom.
You will need to first get off the monorail at the Ticket & Transportation Center where you will need to get in line for the EPCOT monorail line.
The ride from the Contemporary to the Ticket & Transportation Center is only 2-3 minutes.
From the Ticket & Transportation Center the ride to EPCOT is about 10 minutes.
While this is only around 15 minutes of total travel time, you will likely need to wait for a monorail to arrive at either the Contemporary or Ticket & Transportation Center, which will add about 10-15 extra minutes to your travel time.
With all of these factors taken into consideration you should plan for at least 30 minutes to get from the Contemporary Resort to EPCOT.
What Is The First Stop On The Monorail From The Contemporary Resort?
The first stop on the monorail from the Contemporary Resort is the Ticket & Transportation Center.
This is incredibly convenient if you plan to visit EPCOT multiple times during your stay as you'll be able to quickly get to TTC and switch over to the EPCOT monorail line.
The last stop on the monorail from the Contemporary Resort is Magic Kingdom.
As mentioned earlier in the article, even though the Magic Kingdom is the last stop, it should only take you around 15-20 minutes to get to Magic Kingdom from the hotel.
You also have the ability to walk directly to Magic Kingdom from the Contemporary if you don't feel like waiting for the monorail.
