How Long Does American Tourister's Warranty Policy Last?
American Tourister currently has two different types of warranties on their products:
- Limited 10-Year Global Warranty
- Limited 3-Year Global Warranty
Before purchasing your American Tourister product, be sure to verify what type of warranty you'll be getting with your bag.
While both of the warranties cover the same types of defects and malfunctions, the time period in which the bag is covered by the warranty will vary.
Most suitcases sold by American Tourister should easily last over three years, so we recommend purchasing products that have a 10-year warranty.
What Is Covered By American Tourister's Warranty Policy?
American Tourister's warranty covers any defects in materials and craftsmanship.
This means if there is something wrong with the build quality, fabrics, or mechanical parts (like wheels) then your claim will likely be covered by American Tourister's Warranty.
Some common examples of things covered by American Tourister's warranty policy include:
- Torn stitching or materials coming loose (not due to normal use)
- Locks that don't open or close
- Handles that don't extend or retract properly
- Straps that do not tighten or loosen
- Missing parts at the time of purchase
- Zippers that do not properly open or close
- Wheels that are deformed or do not roll properly (not due to normal use)
This list isn't exhaustive but covers some of the most common issues you might have with your luggage.
Each claim is subject to approval by American Tourister, so while these occurrences are commonly covered by the warranty policy, it isn't guaranteed to be approved!
What Is Not Covered By American Tourister's Warranty Policy?
Everyday damage and issues caused by normal wear and tear won't be covered under American Tourister's warranty policy.
Simply put, if your bag is damaged or begins to come apart during a trip or other type of use, then you likely won't see your warranty claim approved.
While a wheel coming off after a bag is dropped, or a tear in the fabric after brushing against a sharp object may feel like something that should be covered by American Tourister, it typically won't be.
Some of the most common issues that aren't covered by American Tourister's warranty policy include:
- Damage caused by mistreatment of your luggage
- Stains or discoloration caused by spills, prolonged sun exposure, etc.
- Damage caused by overpacking and pockets or compartments
- Any damage caused by airlines, taxis, hotels, or really any 3rd party
- Scratches, rips, and scuffs caused by normal wear and tear during travel
These incidents will likely be denied by American Tourister, we always recommend filing a claim and seeing what might happen.
