What Roller Coasters Are At Universal Studios Hollywood?
Universal Studios Hollywood currently has only two roller coasters with quite different target audiences.
However, Universal just recently announced a Fast and Furious themed roller coaster which will be much more thrilling and intense than the existing roller coasters at Universal Studios Hollywood.
Universal Studios Hollywood will be home to three roller coasters in the next few years, but for now, the two existing roller coasters at the park are:
- Revenge of the Mummy: The Ride
- Flight of the Hippogriff
Revenge of the Mummy is one of the scarier rides at Universal Studios Hollywood due to its pyrotechnic effects, pitch-black ride experience, and jump scares, but in terms of roller coaster intensity, it isn't too bad.
If you love roller coasters then you're sure to enjoy Revenge of the Mummy and even if you aren't the biggest fan of coasters we recommend giving Mummy a shot.
There are no inversions or huge drops on Revenge of the Mummy, just tons of speed g-forces making for a thrilling experience without a big risk of feeling nauseous or disoriented.
Flight of the Hippogriff is a much more family-friendly ride designed specifically with kids in mind.
Flight of the Hippogriff has some fun dips, tight corners, and speeds reaching just under 30 miles per hour - none of which are too scary or intense for most children. You'll even catch a glimpse of a hippogriff taking a nap in its nest!
Overall Flight of the Hippogriff is a great introduction to roller coasters for children and just enough fun for parents and Harry Potter fans as well!
But if you're looking for big thrills and don't care much for Harry Potter then we often suggest skipping this attraction to have more time for others at Universal Studios Hollywood!
What Roller Coasters Are At Universal Studios Florida?
Universal Studios Florida has three great roller coasters, one of which is one of the most innovative roller coasters in the world!
The three roller coasters you can currently find at Universal Studios Florida are:
- Revenge of the Mummy: The Ride
- Harry Potter and the Escape From Gringotts
- Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit
Revenge of the Mummy is a moderately intense indoor roller coaster at Universal Studios Florida with pyrotechnic effects, moments of total darkness, and jump scares, but in terms of overall roller coaster intensity, it isn't too bad.
If you love roller coasters then you're sure to enjoy Revenge of the Mummy and even if you aren't the biggest fan of coasters we recommend giving Mummy a shot.

Harry Potter and the Escape From Gringotts is another moderately intense roller coaster at Universal Studios, but it's far more unique and innovative than Revenge of the Mummy and Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit.
Escape From Gringotts incorporates 3D screens and other special effects as well as a ride vehicle that can pivot 180 degrees on its track - making for a unique ride experience you won't find at any of the other Orlando theme parks.
Escape From Gringotts does have some small and very seep drops, but otherwise, the roller coaster is quite tame and we'd say both Revenge of the Mummy and Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit are more intense experiences!
Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit is probably the most intense roller coaster you'll find at Universal Studios Hollywood and also the only outdoor roller coaster as well.
This coaster begins with a 90-degree incline taking you to the attraction's highest point before dropping you down into a massive inversion before zooming through the rest of the attraction.
Revenge of the Mummy has a few moments that are more intense than Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, however, we'd say Rockit is slightly more intense overall than Mummy and more intense than Escape From Gringotts.
What Roller Coasters Are At Islands of Adventure?
Islands of Adventure currently has the most roller coasters of any Universal park, as well as the most intense coasters you'll find at the parks!
You'll find four of the most thrilling and innovative roller coasters in the world at Islands of Adventure:
- Flight of the Hippogriff
- Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure
- Jurassic World VelociCoaster
- The Incredible Hulk Coaster
Flight of the Hippogriff is a very family-friendly ride designed specifically with kids in mind.
Flight of the Hippogriff has some fun dips, tight corners, and speeds reaching just under 30 miles per hour - none of which are too scary or intense for most children. You'll even catch a glimpse of a hippogriff taking a nap in its nest!
Hippogriff is a great way to get your kids introduced to roller coasters, but if you're not a Harry Potter fan or want to get your child on their first roller coaster, we typically suggest skipping it.
Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure is one of the most popular attractions at Islands of Adventure and rightfully so!
We don't want to ruin the surprise but this attraction contains numerous animatronics (including some very big ones) as well as some unique movements you wouldn't expect to experience on a roller coaster!
Hagrid's reaches speeds of 50 miles per hour, but what's most impressive is its acceleration from 0 to 20 miles per hour in just about a second, as well as its 7 separate launch (think speeding up) points!
While not as intense as Hulk or VelociCoaster, Hagrid's is one of the best attractions in Islands of Adventure and a ca n't-miss in our book even if you're not a Harry Potter fan!
Jurassic World VelociCoaster is the newest roller coaster to open at Islands of Adventure and is one of the best and more thrilling coasters in the entire world.
Reaching speeds of 70 miles per hour, tossing you through 4 inversions, and an incredible 0 to 50 mile per hour acceleration in less than 2 seconds, VelociCoaster is a thrill seeker's dream!
VelociCoaster certainly isn't for beginners and is incredibly intense, but for those who love roller coasters, it's a dream come true.
We rank Jurassic World VelociCoaster as the most intense ride at Islands of Adventure or Universal Studios Florida!
The Incredible Hulk Coaster is one of the most iconic roller coasters in the United States and a long-time fan favorite at Islands of Adventure.
While the coaster is no longer one of the most intense coasters in the world, it's a classic roller coaster that's beloved by coaster fans and still full of thrill.
With a massive 7 inversions and g-forces reaching up to 4, the Hulk is the second most intense roller coaster at Islands of Adventure only behind the world-class Jurassic World VelociCoaster!
