The truth is it really doesn't matter which park you visit first. There isn't an advantage to starting your day with one park over the other. However, it comes down to the rides that you want to do the most. Our favorite ride is the VelociCoaster, so if we were visiting the park, we'd go to Islands of Adventure first.
Ride Favorite Rides First
By riding your favorite rides first, you create a ton of flexibility for yourself later in the day.
Knocking your favorite rides out early in the day, right when the park opens, will also allow you to deal with minimal lines, as that is typically when the lines are the shortest.
The park normally fills up right as the afternoon rolls around.
Flexibility For Your Visit
Having that flexibility becomes very useful later in the day, as if a certain attraction has an absurdly long line, you can pivot and ride something else and come back to it.
If you did not ride your must-do rides earlier, then chances are that you'll be stuck waiting in a long line, as you most likely do not want to leave the park without visiting your favorite ride.

If you're planning on visiting two parks in one day, you have to know when to visit to maximize your time.
The best days to visit Islands of Adventure are Tuesday through Thursday. Weekdays are typically much less crowded and visitors from all over the world plan their trips around the weekend.
Most guests plan their entire trip to the park around the weekend. Normally on the weekends, kids are out of school, and parents are off of work. This creates the perfect recipe for a packed park on the weekends.
By going during the weekday, there's a high chance that you'll deal with minimal crowds, less waits, and you'll be able to experience much more in a shorter period of time.
