The Ultimate Six Flags Great Adventure Parking Guide | Explained
When you pull into the Great Adventure Park, you'll realize there are a few different parking options available.
In this guide, we will explain all of the parking options available, how they're different from each other, and how much each parking option costs.
Types of Parking at Great Adventure
There are three different types of parking available at Six Flags Great Adventure including:
- General Parking - $42.66
- Preferred Parking - $79.99
- Handicap Parking - $42.66
Preferred Parking is a higher cost than General Parking, as you'll be parked closer to the entrance, in a blocked-off area.
Standard Parking will park you in the regular Great Adventure parking lot.
1. General Parking
General Parking is going to be your most basic and cheapest option when parking at Great Adventure.
Although the sign at the toll booth will say $40 in large font, the smaller font will show the additional $2.66 for the New Jersey State tax.
With this parking option, visitors will park in the general parking area of the park, on a first-come, first-served basis.
As the park fills up throughout the day, the parking spots will as well, which means the later that you arrive at the park on a busy day, the farther you'll be parked from the park entrance.
Consider Pre-Paying For Parking Online
Although General Parking is $42.66 in person, you can save a few bucks by paying online ($37.51).
Pre-paying for parking also allows you to enter the park much faster.
2. Preferred Parking
Preferred Parking puts you as close to the front entrance of the park as possible at your time of arrival, at a higher cost than General Parking ($35 more).
This means a much shorter walk to the park when you begin your day, and even more importantly, a shorter walk back to your car after a long day at the parks.
To give you a better perspective, we ended up choosing General Parking on a busy day and parked near the 11th row, which was a 5-10 minute walk to the entrance.
Preferred Parking could have allowed us to park only seconds away from the entrance (in the single-digit rows).
3. HANDICAP PARKING
Handicap parking is reserved for those that are handicapped, and is the same price as regular parking.
There are areas around the park closer to the entrance that are reserved specifically for handicapped spots.
It is also available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Upgrade From General Parking to Preferred Parking
Visitors can also pre-pay for General Parking from the Great Adventure site, and then upgrade to Preferred Parking at the parking toll booth when they arrive at the park.
They'll simply have to pay the difference in prices.
Which Parking Option Should I Choose?
It really comes down to whether or not you mind walking, and which time of the day and year you're planning to visit.
If you're visiting during a weekday and/or during the less busy seasons, you'll be perfectly fine with General Parking.
However, if you're arriving at the park on a weekend, during the summer (the busiest season), and/or you're arriving at the park late, you may consider using Preferred Parking or you'll be parked very far from the entrance of the park.
