Get Your Ears On! - Everything You Need to Know

Everything You Need to Know About Get Your Ears On! At Disneyland Resort

If you’re a diehard Disney Theme Parks fanatic, you may be familiar with parkwide events such as anniversary celebrations, Season of the Force, and Pixar Fest. Disneyland loves hosting themed celebrations, and will pump these out with varying levels of involvement from exclusive dining offerings to park-wide decoration and attractions changes such as with Holidays or Halloweentime theming. While many of these events happen cyclically like the anniversary or holiday overlays, or for park-specific events such as with the Food and Wine Festival, sometimes celebrations are held for seemingly one-off celebrations. Enter ‘Get Your Ears On: A Mickey and Minnie Celebration!

What is Get Your Ears On? Get Your Ears On is a Disneyland Resort parkwide event commemorating the 90th anniversary of the iconic duo of Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Throughout the parks special décor will be implemented including giant Valentines and special themed dining and treats, and popular Mickey and Minnie-themed attractions of past and future will be making a splash. Special meet and greets featuring both Mickey and Minnie are expected as well.

What kind of special shows will be happening for the event? Get Your Ears On includes many forms of entertainment from meet and greets to scavenger hunts, but the most anticipated offerings are the shows. The celebration will mark the return of Mickey’s Soundsational Parade as well as the debut of an all-new nighttime spectacular, Mickey’s Mix Magic! Mix Magic is a new projection mapping and (weather permitting) fireworks show offered most weekends and holidays along with some weekdays throughout the celebration.

What special treats should I try? Everything from dessert vendors to sit-down restaurants will be offering special Mouse-themed treats throughout the celebration, but for sweets, we recommend the finding the special Minnie Mouse kitchen Sink Sundae (found at Clarabelles and Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor) and the Insp-EAR-ational cupcakes at most dessert stands in Disneyland Park. If you can’t wait for dessert to take part in the festivities, the “Share Your Ears” Cheeseburger at DCA’s Smokejumpers Grill will fill you up with 2 sliders topping a 1/3lb cheeseburger for about $14.99.

Is this the Parks’ way of celebrating Valentine’s Day? While Disneyland Resort doesn’t currently have a parkwide Valentine’s Day theme overlay like it does for Halloweentime and Holidays, much of the emphasis of Get Your Ears On is placed on the iconic duo’s love, and much of the decorations are valentine’s themed. Overlaid with the celebration are special heart-themed confections, a Valentine’s-themed parkwide scavenger hunt (you can get a map and earn stickers throughout the resort), and the hotels are offering up to a 25% discount for a “romantic getaway” at the celebration. While much of this Valentine’s Day theming is Mickey-and-Minnie involved, Disney fans hoping for a more romantic celebration can still book a traditional meal at any of the more sophisticated premium dining options such as Carthay Circle or Napa Rose.

How can I participate in the scavenger hunt? The commemorative game board and stickers can be purchased for $6.99 + tax from most major shops (such as the Emporium, Pieces of Eight, etc.) around  Disneyland Parks anytime between January 22 and February 18, 2019.
